GCRadix approached me with the desire to have something to give away during Gamescom that is more than just a business card. They wanted to promote their audio plugins and freebies by giving away free copies or discount codes.
For this task, we needed three distinct card rarities, which would represent a completely free copy of the plugin, a 25% discount or 15% discount code.
The cards were supposed to look like trading cards with different rarities and enticing illustrations.
The Plugin Cards
I explored various styles for their brand mascot – a crow – and brought it into fitting situations:
- a crow with an old microphone and headset for the Radiohizer plugin
- two crows far apart for the Transiator plugin
- and a glitched out crow for the Glitcher plugin
The Freebies and Bundle Cards
The freebies and bundles already had existing key visuals, I adapted the card designs of the plugins to match the rest of the set.
All cards share the same card back, showing the GCRadix logo and their website.
The Art Style
At the start of the project, I created three initial drafts, which I presented to the team to define an art style for the card illustrations.
The final style is somewhat of a mix between Cute Menace and Actual Bird.
