HUD and Interface

The HUD for Caliber Chicks 2 represents the run & gun games like Contra and Metal Slug of the early 90s.

Character Selection

Menu Flow for the Minigame
Logo Design

The Minigame is set in the world that uses a fictional script, which was also used to design the logo. It reads “Caliber Chicks 2”
Intro Cutscenes
The minigame gives you the story breakdown in 6 hand-pixeled cutscenes that have 4 variants to them *spoiler ahead* for each individual character, either Jillian or Lillian, and in later loops of the game, replacing President King with a Corgi. *spoiler end*
Outro Cutscenes
Like the Intro Cutscenes, the outro needed to have variants, depending on which character was chosen. I added a looping animation of the ‘about to explode’ reactor to add tension to the scene.
Game Over Screen

The Game Over has two different idle animations per character. The character looks beaten, but not down by default, but raises her thumb as soon as you agree to try again.
Cosmetics

Playing and completing the minigame will reward you with cosmetics, like Glyphs and Emblems, for the main game.
Level Loop Dressing

The deeper you go into the game, the more destabilsed it becomes and the more Anna K. takes over. Throughout the levels you start to see propaganda posters for the anarchistic G.O.B.
I had the pleasure to design a few of these displays.
